Before traveling to Europe

Traveling within Europe is easy and offers great variety - from vibrant cities to nature adventures and sunny getaways. Although many countries are similar to Sweden in terms of health and disease risks, some destinations may still require additional vaccinations. Which vaccines you need depends on your destination, the length of your stay, and your individual circumstances.

Recommended vaccinations and protection

For travel within Europe, it's important to keep your basic vaccinations up to date - including protection against tetanus, diphtheria, and polio. Vaccination against measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) is also recommended if you are not fully immunised. For some destinations, especially in Eastern or Southeastern Europe, vaccination against hepatitis A may be relevant. For longer stays or specific risk environments, vaccines against hepatitis B or TBE (tick-borne encephalitis) may also be recommended.
